Ultra Violet Works - Cold Fire
Ultra Violet works are an extension of my work in fire. They are
inspired by Ernest Rutherfords use of Zinc Sulphide screens as particle
detectors in his early atom smashing experiments and a particular
idea of James Joyce.
The use of Zinc Sulphide mineral required the invention of a medium
I call the 'lumiogram' - Lumiograms are studies
in higher dimensional spaces.
Lumiograms evolved in two stages.

|
|
Stage 1 - |
exploring a geometry of light |
|
|
|
|
Stage 2 - |
invoking specific ' phase spaces' |

Stage 2 'phase spaces'
will be exhibited in 2003 |

"The luminous
silent stasis of esthetic pleasure when the clear radiance of the
the esthetic image is apprehended by the mind, which has been arrested
by its wholeness and fascinated by harmony. The mind in that mysterious
instant Shelley likened beautifully to a fading coal."
